Sailing Safaris

30 years of tails.... The story of a Kiwi who sailed to Tonga and loved it so much he never left. Jon Beauchamp and Ongo Kaihea started sailing and watching whales together in 1991. Back then they had 1 sail boat, Ongo had another job and no-one else knew the whales were there! In 1993 they set up Sailing Safaris as the first Tongan whalewatch operator and only Tongan registered charter company.

Since then they've gone from strength to strength and Sailing Safaris now offer whalewatching trips, specialised charters for photographers and film crews, bareboat and skippered yacht charters, learn-to-sail holidays, a full marine centre for visiting boats and a waterfront bar and restaurant.

Sailing Safaris Marine Centre is Fea'o's kingdom.

We offer expert mechanical engineering, skilled fibre-glass repairs, a slipway suitable for up to 30 tonnes, laundry, petrol, diesel, water, moorings, showers, toilets, a courier and poste restante service, ice, advice, beer and cheer..... what more can we say! :
